 Metamorphosis Foundation invites you to participate in the webinar – panel discussion “Countering Anti-EU Narratives and hate speech in the Western Balkans: Challenges and Responses”, which will be held online on 21 November 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00 (CET), register to join via Zoom. 

This session will explore the most persistent anti-EU narratives circulating across the Western Balkans, highlighting how political actors, partisan media, and various ideological groups strategically frame the EU as a threat to national identity, sovereignty, or traditional values. We will examine how these narratives have evolved in recent years, how they influence public opinion and countries’ EU integration paths, and how internal political crises intersect with external geopolitical pressures that seek to undermine trust in the Union. 

Building on this, the webinar will also address how hate speech often accompanies and amplifies anti-EU rhetoric—particularly targeting minorities, civil society actors, and pro-European political figures—creating a more polarized environment where Euroscepticism appears justified or even patriotic. The session will provide practical guidance for media professionals, civil society organizations, and policymakers on how to counter such blended disinformation, reduce the impact of associated hate speech, and strengthen public resilience to coordinated anti-EU messaging in the region.
